Blackout - Slick Trumpet

Yesterday at school at around 11:20 the entire school blacked out! The rest of the school day was canceled and everyone started to make plans to get together with each other for the rest of the day. Sadly I had a voice lesson at 3:30 that lasted an hour so it literally was in the middle of the time that I had to hang out with people. At least I had a good lesson :P

THE POWER OUTAGE for curlyTRUMPET

Yesterday after the power outage, me and bassman rode our bikes to Henry's house to go to Barton springs. When we got there, sweating from head to toe bassman and I hopped on the piano and hacked out a couple of melodies. Sadly, he had to go to an eye doctor a couple seconds afterwards so Henry and I just went to Barton by ourselves. When we got there we laid out on the warm concrete and sunbathed for an amazing 2 hours. After staring out our tan bods we rode to waterloo records and then to Amy's ice cream. Amy's ice cream to Cheapo Disc's. And finally back to Henry's house.

An adventurous 5 hour day spent mostly on our bikes.
A total of 13 miles! SUCCESS

BLACKOUT

Yesterday, when I was at school at approximately 11:20A.M. the power went out. I was in Geography and we were just watching a movie so I didn't miss much. We had to sit in the dark for like an hour and all I did was play monopoly on someone's iTouch. Unfortunately I couldn't find my way through the dark to the band hall so I couldn't get my trumpet to take home and practice.

Power Outage for Bass Man

So, I was sitting in English not doing my work when the power flickered and died. Everyone freaked out, but I and a few colleagues continued our discussion on women. School got out, and as I was about to get on my regular bus, curlyTRUMPET shouted to me from the bus in front.
"Hey, you wanna chill today?" he asked.
"Heck yes!" I replied, and boarded his bus as if nothing were out of the ordinary.
We got off the bus and proceeded to walk back to his house; it was a harrowing journey that included dodging cars and fending off rabid dogs. But we made it.
As soon as we got to his house, we boarded bikes and headed down Manchaca to an acquaintance's house. That was another harrowing journey that again included dodging cars, and for me it also included not scraping the skin off of my feet, as I was wearing flip flops.
Once we got to the acquaintance's house, I sat down at his piano and started playing a Bach tune. But shortly thereafter I was whisked to an eye appointment, where my eyes were dilated and afterwards I had a hard time seeing anything and it gave me quite a headache!

Austin High Organist

Hey readers I just thought you might want to read this article
http://www.postbulletin.com/newsmanager/templates/localnews_story.asp?z=2&a=444842
Kalle Akkerman is a junior at Austin High and he also plays percussion in th Austin Symphony Orchestra. Kalle has been in music all his life, he has been taking piano lessons since he was 5 and he is 17 now. He is one out of a select few Austin youth that plays pipe organ or piano at Austin area churches. Recently Kalle has had his talent recognized, he won the Minnesota Music Teachers Association Youth Artist Organ Competition. This story is what Austin is all about ...... young musicians who play extremely well. Young artists should earn more recognition like Kalle is getting instead of just hearing about older musicians. If you know any young artists post a comment so we can hear about them too.
